Crunchy Oven Fried Breaded Tilapia not only delicious, it’s ready in 20 minutes! This healthy fried fish recipe uses the oven to create a crispy coating on the fish, eliminating the need for deep frying. Make up a batch of the breading mix to always have on hand, too!
Lightly brush a large baking sheet with cooking oil or spray with non-stick baking spray.
In a shallow bowl or pie plate, blend together flour, salt, and pepper and set aside.
In another shallow bowl or pie plate beat egg whites until white and frothy.
Lastly, in another shallow bowl or pie plate, combine bread crumbs, cornmeal, and basil.
Rinse the fillets and pat dry.
Dip each filet first into flour, shaking off any excess, then into egg whites, then into bread crumb mixture.
Place fillets on baking sheet.
Bake fish for 10 to 15 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Make Ahead Preparation Tips:
Mix up the breading mixture and store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 3 months. Be sure to label and date the container!You can also freeze the fully breaded filets by flash freezing them and then storing in an airtight container or freezer bag. Simple pull out what you need when you're ready to bake up a batch of fish. They can be baked from frozen by adding an additional 5-10 minutes to the total baking time.
