With it’s salty sweet and crunchy combination, this Apple Pecan and Turkey Wrap Recipe is sure to be a hit! A simple lunch idea that is ready in just 5 minutes!
I’m a big fan of wrap sandwiches because they seem to take regular sandwich status to a upgraded level, don’t you think? Maybe that’s just me. Either way this Apple Honey Pecan Turkey Wrap is a delicious one, for sure!
I came upon this original recipe years ago when I partnered with a local grocery store to feature a recipe from their new cookbook. I’ve changed it up a bit and the result is just as tasty! Thinly sliced apples and toasted pecans take this recipe up a notch to give this wrap a gourmet flavor.
With all the fresh ingredients including fruit and veggies, it a healthy lunch idea too!
It’s easy to make the night before and have for lunch the next day as wraps pack really well in lunchboxes too. This recipe makes one wrap but can easily be doubled or tripled if you like!
What Ingredients Are Needed To Make This Recipe?
You can easily find all of the ingredients at the grocery store to make this wrap. I’m including a couple of notes here though for some ingredient variations and tips for saving money.
My turkey wrap recipe calls for romaine lettuce but you can also use a green or red leaf lettuce or even baby spinach. I recommend a darker leaf green vs an iceberg lettuce as they tend to have more flavor and are better for you also with extra vitamins and minerals.
I like to buy pecans in bulk from my local warehouse club as that helps to save money. Did you know you can freeze nuts for up to a year? (sometimes more!) Fresh or from frozen, toasting the pecans for this recipe is another way to really boost that flavor.
You can toast chopped nuts in a skillet over medium low heat or in a toaster oven (affiliate link), which I prefer. To do that, use the small pan that comes with the toaster oven and spread out the chopped nuts. I then set the toast setting for medium dark (so on mine, that is a 4) and press the “toast” button so it will toast for about 2 minutes.
If you want it a little bit toastier, stir the pecans and repeat that step. Be sure to let the pecans cool before assembling your sandwich.
My recipe also calls for Gala apples but you can use whatever apple you like. We also like Fuji apples in this turkey wrap recipe. It’s totally up to you!
Lastly, I like to use whole wheat tortillas but you can also use regular flour tortillas if you prefer. The whole wheat will add a little extra fiber, too!
How to Make This Wrap Sandwich
It’s super simple! Start by placing the tortilla on a plate or cutting board. Then spread on the cream cheese, drizzle on the honey, and sprinkle the toasted pecans on evenly (1).
Next, layer the lettuce, apples and sliced deli turkey (2) and roll it up to create the wrap. It’s that easy!
Make Ahead Preparation Tips
If you like, you can wash and dry the lettuce a few days in advance and store in the refrigerator. I use a ziptop plastic bag with a paper towel placed inside before sealing to absorb extra moisture. I like to use my salad spinner (affiliate link) though as that usually does a pretty good job of drying the lettuce.
Can You Freeze This Wrap?
I like to include this section on all of my updated posts now but this recipe isn’t really freezer friendly other than freezing the nuts like I mentioned above. But since you can make it in about 5 minutes, you’ll have a delicious lunch or light dinner ready in no time!
