Over the last few months, I’ve told you how much we love El Pollo Loco. Well, it was love at first taste but during that time we have found that there are some favorites that we go back to time after time. There really is something for everyone and you can feel good knowing that the food is fresh made on-site (I saw it with my own eyes when I toured their kitchen—very little freezer space but TONS of refrigerator space for all the fresh food that is prepared on-site daily!)
I asked my family what their favorites were and even though we have tried many items on the menu, there were some clear favorites among us all. My husband and son love their signature fire-roasted chickens which you can see made fresh every time you walk into their restaurants. Add a couple of favorite sides like rice and beans (or several others you can choose from like mashed potatoes or corn) and it’s a satisfying meal!
My daughter chose the avocado chicken quesadilla. It’s loaded with a lot of tasty goodness and frankly, it’s huge! We will sometimes split one which makes it an even better deal. That’s actually one of my favorites too but I do also like their tortilla soup and their Pollo Bowl which is filled with chicken, pinto beans, rice, onions, cilantro and pico de gallo-so light and delicious!
El Pollo Loco likes to keep things interesting so each month they feature new menu items that are available for a limited time only (but if they’re popular enough, they might get added to the permanent menu!) Recently they featured shrimp tacos, quesadillas and salad and this month they are featuring a variety of loaded avocado tostadas and Mexican family cobb salad.
And all their salsas and other menu items are made right there in the store. With several items under $5 and many others only a few dollars more (for a meal deal), their prices are pretty comparable with other fast-serve restaurants but a lot better for my family. They also have several menu items that are under 500 calories so if you’re watching your calorie intake, El Pollo Loco makes it easy to enjoy a tasty, satisfying meal and still watch your waistline!
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with drive-thru service and catering also available. So that makes it super easy to stop by whenever you’re in the mood for quick, fresh, delicious food.
El Pollo Loco currently has three Houston-area restaurants with more planned to open later this year. Their current locations are:
• Sugar Land – Hwy 6 and Austin Parkway
• Copperfield – Highway 6 & West Rd.
• Katy – S. Mason Rd. & Provincial Blvd.
• Humble – FM 1960 & Whitaker Rd., opening 2015
• Spring – Kuykendahl & Springbrook Garden Lane, opening 2015
