Martha Stewart Living–Who Me?

About six months ago we got a free subscription to satellite radio. At first we said “Oh, we’ll just listen until the free year is up.” Well, I think it’s safe to say that we’re enjoying it a lot more than we expected (and I’m bordering on being addicted to it every time I hop in the car!) I’m especially hooked on the Martha Stewart Living channel. Now, before you say “I’m no Martha Stewart” and stop reading, don’t! Some of my friends will tell you I’m more like Martha Stewart than anyone else they know but I think we can all learn a little from Martha. Some of my favorite programs are “Everyday Food” and “Living Today”. I feel like I’ve come to know Sandy Gluck, Betsy Karetnick and Mario Bosquez.(the hosts of these shows) on a first name basis.

What do I love about them? Believe it or not, they provide realistic tips and ideas for busy families. Whether you’re looking for ideas to use up your leftovers, adding broccoli to your family’s diet (and how to make your kids LIKE it!), the basics of how to make a piecrust or find meals that take less than 30 minutes to prepare with a few ingredients but tastes gourmet, the tips are plentiful.

Even if you don’t have satellite radio you can still get ideas. Take a look and listen to what’s around you. On television, on the radio, at the checkout line. The information’s there for you if you’re ready to find it. My point is that you can never stop learning new tips and ideas. I’ve been cooking since I was a teenager and I’m always learning new tricks and ideas. Even if you hear five new tips in that half hour that you’re listening, if just one of them can help make your life easier, then it’s probably been worth your time!

Happy cooking!

P.S. If you want to check out the programming guide or blogs from past shows for great ideas or search for recipes, check out Martha Stewart Living channel’s website or click on the link listed at right.
